Senior Photographer in Great Falls, Montana | Which is the Best Month for YOUR Senior Session?
One of the first details I like to discuss with any senior wishing to book a senior session is….drum roll…dates!
As a photographer in Great Falls, Montana, I have learned that regardless of which season we are enjoying, it is always a toss-up as to what we can expect in that Big Sky. Rain, snow, and wind - oh yes, the wind - it is always possibility! But month-to-month, the beauty of your background might change a bit, so it’s important to have an idea of what you prefer. And don’t worry - if the weather is too extreme, we won’t risk your session on it! I always have a few backup dates available in case we need to reschedule!
Here’s a little breakdown to help you out with seasonal changes in those backgrounds:
SPRING: April and May have me itching to get back outside to enjoy that golden evening light! Yep…it’s BAAAACK!!! After a long winter, I LOVE my spring sessions! Expect some budding trees, some moody brush, and best part…usually no mosquitoes! This is also a slower season for me, so expect some session fee discounts!
JUNE: Oh the green grass! Lush grass and beautiful flowers are coming alive around this time, which can make for some gorgeous senior portrait backgrounds, especially for my girls! Pink flower fields start to show up at the end of this month, so book early if that is a “must” for your session!
JULY: Rescheduling doesn’t happen often in July because our weather is fairly consistent. If that’s important to you - this might be the best month for you! Beginning of July is still pretty green and lush, getting a little dry toward the end of the month. If you are interested in some gorgeous wheat fields, end of July is a great time to get all of that golden beauty!
AUGUST: Wheat fields can still be available in the beginning of August before harvest. These images of Skylar are reminding me how much I love me some wheat! ;) Toward the end of August, we start to cool off a little bit more as the days start to shorten, which also means our grass starts to get a little more green and flowers are coming back. If your summer is jam-packed with activities and you’d like to wait until we are getting back into school-mode, August might be a good choice!
FALL: September, October, and November are popular months for seniors who are wanting those “fall colors”. Think deep oranges, some reds, and maybe even a little white ;) It can be difficult to time when we will have our first frost that might impact our orange leaves, but usually beginning of October is your best bet.
