Photographer in Great Falls, MT | It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Okay - so like most of the world, I started decorating for Christmas early, like WAY early as a way of trying to speed through the rest of 2020. I found that decorating early doesn’t actually make Christmas come early, so there’s that. Crap.
So also like the rest of the world, we are still limping through 2020 like we’re at the end of a marathon. It’s fine, though. I’m sure 2021 is going to be way better…. Right? RIGHT?!
For real, it truly is fun for me to decorate and give our house a fresh look. I think it gives me a second wind. Kind of like rearranging my furniture. So I don’t mind that this year I’ve had some extra time to enjoy the festive-ness!
So what do I got? Well, to start with - we are a fake-tree family. I love how this is always a topic of conversation and debate each year with anyone you talk to. “Do you have a fake tree or do you get a real tree?” Seriously - how many people did you talk to about this exact thing? You know I’m right. We happened to get our faux tree (sounds fancier than “fake”) from Hobby Lobby and I LOVE IT. It’s pre-lit and there is very little fluffing to do, which means I am a happy camper! This year I was so proud of myself that I let the kids decorate and I didn’t even re-arrange the ornaments when they weren’t looking.
Some of my favorite little décor items are usually the cheapest ones. This Merry Christmas banner was a $1 bin steal at Target a few years ago. So simple but so cute!
I also usually do a bit of rearranging/repurposing with my current stuff to avoid spending an arm and a leg each holiday season. Buckets, baskets and blankets (I even raid my kids’ rooms) come out and I take advantage of anything that looks festive.
Another cheap find: these little Charlie Brown trees that I placed on my black side tables. I got them four years ago at a Bed, Bath & Beyond Black Friday sale. I don’t think they actually light up anymore but I still love the way they look.
Signs go a long way in my house! I got some new additions from the Target $1 bins this year (I also used them during my Holiday Card Mini Sessions!). I’m beginning to think people leave our house with a little eye exhaustion with all the words on my walls….
My favorite addition to this year’s holiday décor is definitely the red velvet curtains! I know…so overboard but I couldn’t resist. And they made such a difference. Add a few different red and white pillow covers…instant holiday vibes! Also - only $40 for a set of two panels on Amazon, so it really didn’t hurt the wallet too bad.
Well…that’s it, guys! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas with your families, some much-needed time away from work, and are ready to blow 2020 out of the water with a much less stressful 2021! I know I am!
All the love,
Bridgette
